Save Burton County Court - Last year the Ministry of Justice published a list of 54 county courts across the country to be closed as part of a cost saving programme. Working alongside the Users Group of Burton upon Trent County Court, we set up a campaign to raise awareness of the problems closure would cause and respond to the MoJ Consultation Paper providing evidence that contradicted many of the reasons for closure. One of our most important points was that the closure would make justice impossible to access for the most vulnerable in our society. We were delighted to learn that we were successful in keeping the court open for at least the next 3 years, but are geared up for the fight if our court is threatened again after this time. Money Management Information Poster. Money advice training for schools - One of our new initiatives is to extend our free of charge money management training sessions to primary and secondary schools in the area. This will be delivered in school assemblies or to year groups and will be a fun and interactive sessions with games such as "The Price is Right" where children are encouraged to participate and shout out answers. We believe that equipping children with a basic understanding of credit / debt and budgeting will stand them in good steed for the future. In July 2010 our Advisers generated a total of £160,123 in extra income for clients seen through our GP Outreach Project. £150K for Outreach Clients in Three Months - During March, April and May 1010 our Advisors helped clients funded through the PCT Outreach project to generate a total of £150K in unclaimed benefits. This included helping clients to claim Pension Credits, Tax Credits, Disability Living Allowance and benefits related to loss of employment. New Offices - On 30 April 2010 we relocated to new offices at 114 Church Street, Church Gresley. This has enabled us to extend our opening times and expand the services we can offer.
