Citizens Advice Bureau How We Can Help:
How We Can Help.
At South Derbyshire Citizens Advice Bureau we can give you free, confidential, impartial and independent advice and
information on a wide range of subjects.
We can work with you to sort out any debt worries and claim all the benefits you may be entitled to.
We can help with housing and employment problems, or deal with queries about consumer or tax issues.
We can advise on legal matters, answer questions about immigration, and we have lots of experience on family and personal
matters too.
We offer tribunal representation for welfare rights and specialist multi-debt casework.
We speak up for change in social policies; from our clients experiences we can see where services and policies are failing.
We are a member of Citizens Advice, which provides the extensive information system we use to advise clients and sets standards for advice, training, equal opportunities and accessibility in the bureau.
Citizens Advice Bureau Aims and Principles:
Aims and Principles.
To ensure that individuals do not suffer through lack of knowledge of their rights and responsibilities or of the services available to them, or through an inability to express their needs effectively and equally.
To exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies and services, both locally and nationally.
We are an independent service providing free, confidential and impartial advice to everybody regardless of race, sex, disability or sexuality.
Citizens Advice Bureau Confidentiality:
Confidentiality.
Citizens Advice is committed to safeguarding your privacy, while providing a high quality of service. Citizens Advice will treat your personal information as confidential and your details will not be given or sold to anyone.
Nothing learned by the bureau from you, including the fact of your visit,
will be passed on to anyone outside the service without your express permission.
All interviews are held in private; and referrals to other agencies can only be made with your consent.
There are a few cases where we have to breach confidentiality - please ask at reception if you need more
information about this.
About Citizens Advice:
About Citizens Advice.
Citizens Advice is the national association for Citizens Advice Bureaux across England and Wales - setting and monitoring standards, providing support, guidance and services.
The governing body of Citizens Advice is a Trustee Board whose members are both company directors and charity trustees. The Trustee Board is responsible for supporting the aims and principles and developing a strategy for the CAB service. The Board delegates operational and staffing matters to the Chief Executive of Citizens Advice.
It receives funding from government and other sources to cover the cost of the organisation and to support the services provided to affiliated Citizens Advice Bureaux. Citizens Advice operates broadly under similar rules and regulations to those governing executive Non Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs) and, as such, it is subject to a comprehensive review every five years.
